Toronto Film Society presents part 7 of 7 double feature presentations. Today is THE BEST OF BRIT COMEDY
TOP SECRET (MR. POTTS GOES TO MOSCOW) 1952 dir. Mario Zampi w. George Cole, Oscar Homolka, Nadia Gray
When a British Sanitary Engineer (that's plumber to you) goes on holiday, he mistakenly takes plans for a new secret weapon that everybody, including the Russians, is looking for. Hilarious cold war farce.
PRIVATE'S PROGRESS 1956 dir. John Boulting w. Richard Attenborough,Terry-Thomas, Dennis Price, Ian Carmichael
British through and through in this cleverly scripted, rattling paced precusor to the more famous I'm Alright Jack (which we programmed a couple of years ago). No class is left unscathed with spot-on digs at the educated, working, and officer classes. The cast of the usual suspects of Brit comedy are in top form. Another fine film from the famous Boulting Brothers is a great example of how a film should be made.
Trial membership for this programme is $15 at the door.
