Toronto Film Society presents part 5 of 7 double bills at Monday Nights with the Stars. Tonight it's RAWHIDE with 2 visions of the wild west.
WHISPERING SMITH 1948 dir. Leslie Fenton w. Alan Ladd, Robert Preston, Brenda Marshall
Ladd's in his element here, and Preston is the friend gone bad. Railroad detective Ladd must bring his old pal to justice. Beautifully shot in Technicolor.
ALIAN JESSE JAMES 1959 dir. Norman McLeod w. Bob Hope, Rhonda Fleming
One of the best Hope comedies and without Bing. Bob is an insurance salesman who sells a life insurance policy to Jesse James who's already worth more dead than alive. The climax has appearances from every Western star you can think of-including Trigger!
Free film notes with programme.
