The Eugene B. Adkins Collection is widely considered one of the finest collections of Native American and Southwestern art ever assembled by a private collector. Philbrookâs inaugural exhibition of the Adkins material will display a significant sampling of this collection and will feature selected paintings, pottery, jewelry and other types of art. The exhibition will include paintings by members of the Taos Society of Artists and such important Western artists as Alfred Jacob Miller and Maynard Dixon. In addition there are works by significant Native American artists, including pottery by Maria Martinez and family, jewelry by Charles Loloma and Kenneth Begay, and paintings by R.C. Gorman, Pablita Velarde, Fritz Scholder, and T.C. Cannon.
