Built in 1833, The Eleanor Proske Visitors' Center (Main Hall) is Snug Harbor's oldest building and a prime example of the Greek Revival architecture of the 1830s. A treasure trove of 19th-century craftsmanship and detailing, The Visitors' Center is also a New York City Landmark. Its ceiling mural, punctuated by a towering skylit dome and gilded weathervane, was fully restored in 1994 and received a New York City Landmark Preservation Commission Award.
