The 50th Anniversary Performance of Handel's Messiah by George Frideric Handel will be shown at the Downers North High School, 4436 Main St., Downers Grove, IL.
Messiah is one of the most popular master works written, perhaps most frequently performed at Christmas using only the parts that refer to the birth of Christ plus the “Hallelujah Chorus”. The entire work, however, is a presentation of the life of Jesus, and it is this fuller version that will be performed by the DGCS. Performing with full orchestra, and a chorus of 70 singers, this program will tell the whole story, and include more choruses than are usually sung.
Messiah will feature outstanding soloists of mid west, national and international acclaim. The audience will be invited to join in singing the “Hallelujah Chorus” with the performers. This is a rare opportunity.
There is new ticket pricing, intended to make concert-going more affordable for families, students, and senior citizens.
Individual Tickets:
Regular $20; Senior (60+) $15; Student $5; Children 3 and under (with parent) are free
Group and season tickets are also available at reduced rates through November 22.
