Anne Frank received a diary for her thirteenth birthday. For just over the next two years, years in which she and her Jewish family hid from the Nazis in a safe house in Amsterdam, she recorded in her diary with great poignancy both the routine and the intimate details of her adolescent life: her hopes and dreams, her feelings about those "imprisoned" with her, her thoughts about the world and humanity. This classic play brings this true coming-of-age story to the stage, allowing the audience to re-live Anne's precociousness, her pleasures and pains, her experiences, her fears, and her loves- while hanging over Anne, and the audience, is the quintessential threat of incarnate evil.
