Ken Russell's "The Devils" (1971) is the twisted tale of Father Grandier, a priest of a fortified town that prevents Cardinal Richelieu from gaining total control of seventeenth-century France. Vying for domination, Richelieu employs a manic witch-hunter to set Grandier up as a warlock of a devil-possessed nunnery. Chaos ensues.
Ken Russell's pre-renaissance France is a demented world that boasts an intense Oliver Reed as Father Grandier and Vanessa Redgrave as the deformed and sexually obsessed mother superior. We are happy to present "The Devils" uncut!
