Playwright Richard Jarboe brings his comical and thought-provoking one man show, “The Danger of Gray Fat”, to the San Francisco Fringe Festival September 6-16 for its Bay Area Premiere at the EXIT Theatre. A writer for over 40 years, Jarboe’s “The Danger of Gray Fat” mixes music, poetry, and spoken word that explore the dangers of the human mind. SF Fringe is the largest grassroots theatre festival in the Bay Area.

Full of wit, satire, and with a bit of horror around the edges, The Danger of Gray Fat starts with Jarboe's vision of heaven and ends with mummies from Ancient Egypt Land. Along the way Jarboe explores “aBusement” parks, New Jersey, evil, raising the dead, eggs, chickens, hot-rodding deities and the effects of the symbolic world. With eclectic songs ranging from "Things Get Funky Fast" (about the second law of thermodynamics), to “Not to See the Light of Day” (about JFK, MLK, and RFK), and finally “We Got to move,” Jarboe leaves the audience wondering where he will take them next.

Richard Jarboe is a poet, playwright, composer, and lyricist. He has published two books of poetry: Trash Marks The Spot and What It Takes. His musical theatre credits include The Pied Piper of Hamelin, co-written with Harvey Shield, and produced in Los Angeles at the Olio and in New York City at the Circle in the Square. His musical Remnants was produced in Wheeling and Beckley West Virginia. Jarboe has also written several music pieces for ballet companies all over the U.S. His ballets include Buffalo Bill’s Saloon, produced by the Colorado Ballet and MLK, produced by the Roxey Ballet in New Jersey and performed at the inauguration of United States President Barak Obama. His play There Goes The Judge originated in Los Angeles and was recently produced in Princeton, New Jersey and in New Orleans, Louisiana. His CD’s include You Got To Start Somewhere, Something Else, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, The Musical, and The Danger of Gray Fat.
