I hear the new album is brutal, but I saw them up in Portsmouth, NH a few weeks back and they put on one hell of a show. They played mostly old tunes. I think Courtney botched this one on purpose to get out of that Capital contract.

I'm not sure why everyone is slagging the new album. I have it and have really give it a runthrough, listening to it end-to-end at least 10 times now. It's just more of the same. Really a blend of what they were doing on Monkey House with more of a straight-forward "Dandy's Come Down" approach instead of the 80s thing.
I think it's getting bad reviews because the critics are tired of saying how great the Dandys are and then watching them underwhelm.
