The Culture Club (Music: Athlete, "Black Swan") April 25, 2010

This is the next study session in a series of culture studies where something from the media (e.g. a book, a film, a music album) is discussed from a Christian perspective but the session is for people of all faiths and people of no faith at all who want to explore the message behind the media.

The session will start at 6pm when we will listen to tracks from the album in Madisons Cafe and the discussion starts at 7pm.

There is no charge for this event and is open to all.

How do you react to unexpected moments? Black Swan explores how the trials and joys of the years have changed Athlete’s outlook, and though there are still hints of the upbeat, vibrant feel of their first album, life has matured the band. Love is the dominant theme in the album, with all its highs and lows, and Athlete excels at expressing the richness of these experiences through music. Black Swan reflects the deeper joys that have come into their lives, particularly their children, but we sense that all their expectations haven't been met.
