"The Colored Museum has eleven friendly, funky, fly, fresh, flamboyant, and fiery vignettes written my George C. Wolfe. Dipped in bittersweet humor, The Colored Museum journeys through 1980's Black America stereotypes that will
confront, tickle the funny bone, perplex, and connect audience members all at the same time.
While on the tour, be prepared to meet colorful characters like the snap queen Miss Roj and the sweet and sassy wigs Lawanda and Janine; visit Aunt Ethel's Down Home Cookin' Show; meet a Soldier with a Secret and see Topsy Washington who dances to the music of her own madness. And honey, there is room for many a more... So let's "Git on Board"
The Colored Museum runs April 13, 14 and 15, 2009 in the Winthrop University Rutledge Gallery. Curtain time is 8:00 P.M. Admission is free but donations are encouraged. Seating is limited. Tickets can be picked up starting at 7:30 P.M. each evening. More info: 803-323-2397, wheata@winthrop.edu
