Colburn Conservatory of Music's 10th anniversary celebration continues with music director and conductor Yehuda Gilad leading the young ensemble, who have been featured on KCET's Open Call, in an eclectic collection of works.
The concert kicks off with the fanfare to the 1912 ballet La Péri by Paul Dukas, who may be best known for his composition The Sorcerer's Apprentice from the Disney film Fantasia. Violinist Hugh Palmer then takes the stage to solo on Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major, and the finale features Jean Sibelius' Symphony No. 1 in E minor, penned by the Finnish composer at the turn of the last century.
