The Closet at Planet Connections Theatre Festivity June 2, 2012

Lifedream Productions is pleased to present Amy Gray-Piper’s new play, The Closet, directed by Melissa Skirboll, making its world premiere at the Bleecker Street Theatre in New York, as part of the 4th annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. The Closet is paired with Dana Sumner-Pritchard’s new play Bed, which is also premiering at the festival in this evening of dramatic one-acts.
Starring Maureen Van Trease and Susan McBrien, The Closet is the story of Ruth, a woman with a troubled past who is trying to come to terms with herself, her mother and their shared past. Though Ruth thought she had buried her past, the memory of her long-dead mother, Mara, haunts her. She struggles to hold onto her illusions through a series of conversations with Mara, before being forced to remember the truth. We watch as her fragile hold on sanity slips away as she falls into the madness that gripped her mother.
