The Checkout – Live at Berklee, which brings critically acclaimed, New York-based Berklee alumni back to their alma mater, continues with rising saxophonist Jaleel Shaw, a 2000 Berklee graduate. Shaw will be performing with alumnus pianist Lawrence Fields, bassist Boris Kozlov, and drummer Johnathan Blake. Jaleel Shaw has released two solo albums. He is a member of the Mingus Big Band and the Roy Haynes Quartet, and was featured on Haynes’s Grammy-nominated CD, Whereas. He has also performed with Christian McBride, Jason Moran, Roy Hargrove, Jimmy Cobb and others, and received two ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards.
Presented by NPR Music and WBGO Jazz 88.3 FM, The Checkout – Live at Berklee will be webcast live worldwide in high definition video over NPRmusic.org and on the radio in New York over WBGO-FM as a special edition of The Checkout, the acclaimed multimedia show featuring what’s new on New York’s jazz scene. They will also be archived, and available for on-demand listening, at NPRmusic.org, and Checkoutjazz.org.
