Baroque Inspirations, performed by twelve musicians selected from The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s elite roster, revels in the ornate ornamentation, contrapuntal complexity, and dazzling virtuosity that epitomize Baroque music. From the magical aura of Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, to Vivaldi’s imitation of birdcalls in The Goldfinch, to the paragon of Baroque masterworks, Bach’s Brandenburg concertos Nos. 4 and 5, the program brims with glittering gems. Through its performance, education, and recording/broadcast activities—plus frequent tours—the Chamber Music Society draws more people to chamber music than any other organization of its kind.
