The Catharine Parr Traill Awards for Newcomer Women September 23, 2009

Newcomer Women's Services Toronto (NEW) is proud to announce the launch of the Catharine Parr Traill Awards for Newcomer Women.

Are you, or do you know a newcomer woman who has an inspirational story? NEW is seeking nominations for the launch of the Awards that will recognize 5 newcomer women every year.

The Awards will recognize newcomer women whose stories exemplify successes and triumphs in overcoming their unique challenges and barriers as they build a new life in Canada for themselves and/or their families.

The Award Criteria include the following;
- Arrived in Canada in the past 10 years
- Has overcome hardship and barriers
- Has taken steps towards independence
- Has made a contribution to her community
- Is a role model for other newcomers
**Nomination deadline is August 17, 2009
** Nominees submit their story on two pages or 10 minute audio tape

The launch of the Awards will take place on the evening of September 23, 2009 at the Metro Hall Rotunda, from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
Food and refreshments will be served, as well as cultural entertainment will be provided.
Tickets are $30 for general public.
