The 'secret' art of Dr. Seuss is a collection of authorized estate editions based on paintings and sculpture created by Theodor Seuss Geisel at night for his own personal enjoyment. The locally-collected prints that comprise the exhibition represent a segment of Geisel's work rarely, if ever, exhibited during his lifetime. They also provide a deeper glimpse into the art and life of this celebrated American icon. Illustrator by day, surrealist by night, Seuss created a body of irrepressible and instantly recognizable work. Yet, the Secret Art often shows a side of the artist that those familiar with him only through his classic children's books may have never seen. Created over a period of more than 60 years, the exhibition encompasses the entirety of Seuss's multi-dimensional talent. The artistic thread highlighted throughout the diverse collection is Geisel's wildly imaginative and surreal vision.
