The Caltech-Occidental Symphony, directed by Allen Robert Gross, will feature cellist Joshua Yu, the second of this year’s Student Concerto Competition winners. Joshua Yu is a freshman at Occidental College studying cello with Gloria Lum. Also featured will be Jacob Ortega-Gingrich as assistant conductor.
The program will include Mussorgsky’s A Night on Bald Mountain, Saint-Saens Cello Concerto No. 1, and Beethoven’s Symphony no. 1. This event will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in Occidental College’s Thorne Hall. It will also take place on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. in Caltech’s Ramo Auditorium. Both concerts will have the same program, and are open to the public with free admission.
