On Saturday, December 11, the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) programs at CIIS present The Business of Art: A Conversation with Nancy E. Quinn and Laurie Fox beginning at 6:15pm at CIIS (1453 Mission Street). The event is free and open to the public, and will be preceded by a light food/drink reception at 5:45pm. Arts Management Consultant, Nancy Quinn, and writer/literary agent, Laurie Fox, will share their perspectives as artists with wide-ranging experiences in fundraising, nonprofit management and literary consulting. The conversation will be facilitated by Dr. Cindy Shearer, MFA Program Chair.
Laurie Fox is the West Coast Associate for the Linda Chester Literary Agency, which has its home office in Manhattan. As Chester's partner, Fox joined the agency in 1989, and is celebrating 20 years with the agency. She is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz, with a degree in Aesthetic Studies (emphasis in Creative Writing and Theatre), and is a published author of two novels a poetry collection.
Nancy E. Quinn is a widely sought-after as a grant-writer, organizational consultant, and executive coach, and the founder of Quinn Associates, which provides small and mid-sized arts organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area with an extensive array of professional fundraising services. She received her MBA in Arts Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 1983, completing a two-year course of study and a six-month internship at New York City Ballet under the artistic direction of George Balanchine.
