City Harvest, the world's first food rescue organization dedicated to feeding New York City’s hungry men, women, and children, is gearing up for its second annual Brooklyn Local, a fundraising event featuring artisanal food and fun activities for the whole family.

On Saturday, September 22th, over 75 artisanal vendors will converge at Brooklyn Bridge Park to showcase Brooklyn’s most delectable fare and to help City Harvest feed more hungry New Yorkers. The Brooklyn Local will be held at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
During this event, guests will have an exclusive opportunity to meet and talk with regional artisans while sampling gourmet and specialty food items for sale. Guests who join City Harvest at The Brooklyn Local can expect:

• More than 75 vendor booths highlighting local and gourmet food items, as well as craft beer and wine. The Brooklyn Local will feature prepared food and purveyors from the Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg in a special section.

• Tasting Tent with private seating, hosted by Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli of Frankies Spuntino and Prime Meats, featuring food and drink from some of Brooklyn’s finest establishments.

• Interactive Kids’ Zone with musical entertainment children’s activities.

• Gift bags for sale, filled with a selection of quality products from the market.

Several borough tastemakers have signed on to chair the event, including: Ted Allen from Chopped, Momofuku’s Sue Chan, Food & Wine’s Dana Cowin, Taylor Erkkinen from The Brooklyn Kitchen, Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo from Frankies Spuntino and Prime Meats, and Mandy Oser from Ardesia. Borough President Marty Markowitz has also pledged to support The Brooklyn Local and will be joining his fellow Brooklynites for the festivities.
“We were very happy with the local support for last year’s Brooklyn Local and we appreciate the continued interest in this unique event,” said Jilly Stephens, Executive Director of City Harvest. “Brooklyn has a vibrant artisanal community and we are excited to partner again for this family-friendly event that will raise funds to help feed hungry New Yorkers and Brooklynites.”

Over 2,500 attendees are expected. Tickets to enter the market will cost $10 (kids under 5 are free), family passes (for two adults and up to four children) will cost $40, and visitors can purchase an all-access pass for $90 which includes admission to the Tasting Tent and Happy Hour. All-access passes are also available for children ages 5-12 for $30.
