To outsiders, San Francisco is all one big city. But to those in the know, there is SoMa, South of Market. It's home to a generation of hipsters disillusioned by the dotcom bust, restless and searching for the next thrill, the next high... Sex, drugs, kink--you can find anything you want in SoMa, if you know where to look. SoMa tells the story of three young people who journey into this glittering, surreal world of private sex clubs and kept boys, betrayal, redemption, and sometimes love. Drawing on his first hand knowledge of San Francisco's subcultures, Kemble Scott creates a provocative, wholly original, and unforgettable novel.
About Kemble Scott:
Intrigued by the stories he was hearing about San Francisco's subcultures, Kemble Scott launched the SoMa Literary Review (www.somalit.com) which now receives more than two million hits a year. During his successful career in television news he was honored with three Emmy Awards and the Edward R. Morrow Award. He currently lives in San Francisco, where he works with news organizations around the country to help them develop and operate their own investigative journalism teams.
Our next Book Group meeting is Wednesday, April 18 at 7 PM at the Three Dollar Bill Cafe at the LGBT Center, 1800 Market St. (@ Octavia). As always, I'd like everyone to come with any observations they may have as well as at least one question to pose to the group. Also, please come equipped with any title suggestions for our next joint venture. Hope to see you there. The Center/Books Inc. Book Group is free and open to everyone. We encourage inclusiveness and promote diversity. We meet the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
