In a physical theater approach, a stage character is considered before all, a body in space with a uniquely engaged and playful physicality. This class proposes an introduction toward a physical awareness of the actor's body with the aim of creating and playing stage characters based on movement.
This approach considers the body and its gestures at the center of the creative process with a journey through the practice of:
- Improvisation: action-reaction in play, Neutral Mask, levels of performance energy, movement dynamics, rhythm, tempo, spatial relationships, physical attitudes, transposition, all leading to an essential dimension of character play that involves the whole body.
Participants will create original characters, from a published text and of their own invention.
