The Birth of Oil painting
In the 15th century, the Netherlands painter Jan van Eyck is said to have invented oil painting as we know it. In anticipation of the "Dutch Utopia" exhibit at the Jepson Center for the Arts, this 4 hour painting workshop is geared toward giving students an understanding of these early techniques of oil painting by way of completing their own master copy. The session will begin with an extensive painting demonstration by the instructor while still leaving plenty of time for the students to execute a painting of their own.
