"Bernie was a huge influence on the Talking Heads and on me" - David Byrne
"He's like the Jimi Hendrix of the keyboard" - Bootsy Collins
In this rare performance, legendary Parliament Funkadelic and Talking Heads keyboardist and two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bernie Worrell will lead an impromptu supergroup of Philly music veterans Yanni and Alexi Papadopoulos (Stinking Lizaveta), Calvin Weston (Ornette Coleman, James Blood Ulmer), and other special guest performers through a freaked out night of live music at the intimate, esteemed Philadelphia concert hall Johnny Brenda's.
Getting things started in the best way possible will be Philly's own funk-punk outfit Black Landlord, who recently released their first full length album, Addicted to Distraction.
$12 advance, $15 at the door. 21+
Gearheads take note: Worrell will be bringing a vintage Clavinet and MiniMoog with him. God knows what else.
