This show will feature the premier of "The Slip," an original work for three modern dancers and jazz sextet showing the ice molecule in play and disarray. It marks the first collaboration of composer Ben Geyer and choreographer Annie Now and the first exhibition of modern dance at The Tea Lounge.
The Ben Geyer Sextet is an ensemble of New York improvisers which has played Ben's original music for packed audiences at The Cutting Room in Manhattan and the Lily Pad.
Dana Unger of The Hippo Press writes, "Geyer has been able to find his own unique composing style." While his influence includes a range of jazz approaches, Geyer takes an active interest in the extended forms of classical music. He is also inspired by extra-musical sources: his East of Eden Suite is based on John Steinbeck’s novel of the same name.
"Sophisticated small group writing... an excellent band!"
