Through relentless touring and shows that have become the stuff of legend - check out any of their countless fan-posted YouTube clips - The Avett Brothers have become one of the hottest grassroots touring bands in recent memory. With the new release of "Emotionalism" - their most emotionally arresting album to date - and major summer tour appearances that included Coachella, Bumbershoot and Telluride, they were one of the breakout artists of 2007.

By melding their similar histories built on folk, country, punk, jazz and gospel, The Avett Brothers - Scott Avett (vocals, banjo, kick drum), Seth Avett (vocals, guitar, high-hat) and Bob Crawford (double bass) – are taking roots music in a completely new direction. Inspired by Tuesday night flat-picking parties in Greenville, NC dubbed "The Back Porch Project," the trio came together in the spirit of old-time folk and country music, liquor and street performances.
