The Artist and the Tycoon April 25, 2007

The exhibit, 'The Artist and the Tycoon' details the lives and careers of artist Howard Chandler Christy and Tacoma shipping magnate H.F. Alexander. The two men came together when Christy was commissioned to paint portraits of Alexander's family. Reproductions of two of Christy's illustrated posters, original paintings of the Alexander family by Christy, photographs by Asahel Curtis, as well as artifacts and ephemera from Alexander's shipping line combine to illustrate the successful lives of these two men.
