The Art of the Stamp
A Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition
The Art of the Stamp is a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at American stamp design. The exhibition features 100 original works of art and displays the evolution of those works. Designs span the 1960s to the present and depict subjects from the full spectrum of American history. Highlights include preliminary designs for the “Elvis Presley” stamp, the most popular stamp of all time, and two original Norman Rockwell pieces. www.thehistorycenter.org
Developed by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and the Smithsonian National Postal Museum from the collection of the USPS, the exhibition was organized for travel by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service
