In Italy, wine is an aspect of daily life. Consumed in moderation, it is neither a vice nor a luxury.” So says Peter Neff, wine buyer for the past 11 years at River City Cellars in Richmond’s Carytown. Neff will demystify the wines of Italy both historically and through a tasting Saturday, Aug. 8, at 2 pm. His talk, “The Art of Italian Wine,” will trace the development of Italian wine through the centuries in the finale of VMFA’s “Ciao: An Italian Summer” series.
Neff will explore geographic regions, works from VMFA’s collection, law, and viticulture in Italy. After the lecture, he’ll guide participants through a tasting of selected Italian wines and an assortment of cheeses, crackers and fruit.
