An exciting new exhibit is now open in the Museum’s Collins Gallery. The Art of Contemporary Printmaking, sponsored by Print Arts Northwest, features traditional printmaking and highly innovative practices by influential printmakers of the greater Northwest. This exhibition, the first of its kind at the Washington County Museum, represents wildly divergent printmaking techniques including monotypes, etchings, digital imaging, screen printing and woodblock print.
A highlight of the exhibition is the Print Arts Northwest Founder’s Portfolio, which is a collection of seventeen original hand pulled prints by the Founding Members of the Northwest Print Council (dba Print Arts Northwest). Available for purchase and in a range of media, this historic document includes premier printmakers of the region including perhaps the best known of the Founding Members, Dr. Gordon Gilkey. The Founder’s Portfolio is contained in a beautiful clothbound portfolio and comes with a Letter of Endorsement from Jordan Schnitzer, international print collector and connoisseur.
