The Aerialist began in 1996 as a solo project of Lary Hoffman, who was then playing with a band called Five State Drive. After Five State Drive broke up, Lary made an Aerialist record with some beats from Five State Drive drummer Stevie Treichel and it was produced by Mike Ivey of "basehead" fame.
