Opening Reception: Thursday, June 25th, 6 - 9 pm
The 440 Gallery is pleased to announce “Brooklyn” a juried exhibition capturing places, events and people related to the borough of Brooklyn, New York. The exhibition will run Thursday, June 25th, through Saturday July 25, 2009.
The juror for “Brooklyn” is Florence Neal, the co-founder (1990) and director, of Kentler International Drawing Space in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Ms. Neal is also an artist and her work, along with several public art commissions, is presented in local, national and international venues.
The work in the show includes a broad range of styles and techniques--including painting, drawing, photography, prints, and mixed and new media--that directly relates to the borough of Brooklyn, NY. The quality of applications was particularly strong, making a difficult decision for Ms. Neal. This event is sure to draw an unusually large crowd of artists and collectors, reflecting the full spectrum of the Brooklyn art scene. Don’t miss this unique community show.
The gallery is free and open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 - 7 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 - 7 pm.
