the 2007 Indian Electronica Festival: London August 25, 2007

This is the second year we're hosting the Indian Electronica Festival in London and its going to be an amazing time!

Saturday August 25th, 10PM - LATE

@ 333 Old Street (near Hoxton Square) (http://www.333mother.com) in East London/Hackney [take the tube to Old Street stn then walk to the corner of Hoxton St] [click for map] - (hosted by Friction - http://www.bobbyfriction.com )

Once again we're taking east London's famous 333 nightclub over to this time host 11 acts on two floors to give you 6 hours of action-packed live performances!

In the basement, you'll be treated to an array of Live Bands and solo musicians - including a never-before seen performance by Dr Das with Sir Ramjac and Nilz, as well as Boston USA's own Notecrusher - playing for the first time with Dr Das on bass plus other guest instrumentalists. The night kicks off with lush grooves provided for by groups like Aesh and Eisha Kumar, then intensifies with dubby ragga influenced breaks courtesy of Prithpal's live ensemble.

Upstairs on the main floor we're going for a feel-good early-90s NYC loft party vibe with Toronto's Abdul Smooth on the decks, as well as bhangra-house innovator Sonny Ji, the Idiots and a special *live* performance by Glasgow's own MC Soom T and DJ Ersk.

The gig kicks off at 10PM on Saturday August 25th '07 and will run until late!!!

This is a must-visit event if you're in the London area.

This year we'll be again rocking two soundstages through the night; with a floor dedicated to showcasing cutting-edge live music in the basement whilst DJs rock the decks on rotation on the main floor.

In addition to bands and disc jockeys, we'll also have some amazing VJs cutting up projected visuals through the night!

We've got a rough outline of who's performing when below but we also have some surprise performers dropping by for impromptu sets so you can expect super fresh beats through the night ;)

* 10:00 – 10:30 Eisha Kumar (Bossa Nova/downtempo/spoken word w/female vocalist)
* 10:40 – 11:20 Aesh (lush melodic trip hop trio fusing French, English and Hindi female vocals)
* 11:25 – 11:45 Yam Boy (indie hip-hop MC w/minimal electronic beats)
* 11:45 – 12:30 Prithpal (on tabla w/singer + MC + dancers = ragga influenced big breaks with hindi sung vocals and MC toasting)
* 12:40 – 01:40 Notecrusher featuring Dr Das on Bass plus other guest instrumentalists (A world-first performance of live bass-laden breakbeats accompanied by indian harmonic elements such as sitar)
* 01:50 – 03:30 Dr Das with Nilz (tabla) and Sir Ramjac (conga) (All new material from this dub collective)
* 03:30 – (close) Fusing Naked Beats (DJ Set: Arabic influenced eclectic electronica)
