Press Release
12TH ANNUAL LOS ANGELES ART SHOW PRESENTED BY
THE FINE ART DEALERS ASSOCIATION
RETURNS JANUARY 24-28, 2007

80 Renowned International Dealers to Present Five Centuries of Art
at Prestigious Annual Exhibition

After Record Sales and Attendance Last Year,
12th Annual Los Angeles Art Show
Becomes a Highly Anticipated Event

Los Angeles (May 2006)—The acclaimed Los Angeles Art Show, presented by the Fine Art Dealers Association (FADA), returns to the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport, Wednesday, January 24 through Sunday, January 28, 2007. Collectors and the general public will be able to view “Five Centuries of Fine Art” from around the world, all available for purchase. Eighty top international galleries will display Old Masters, 19th Century, and contemporary works of art. An opening-night preview Gala benefiting the Art Museum Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will be held Wednesday evening, January 24, 2007.

Considered one of the most prestigious annual expositions in the United States, the Los Angeles Art Show is returning for its 12th year after record sales and attendance at last year’s show. The Los Angeles Art Show’s outstanding reputation is based on the high quality and variety of fine art presented by a carefully selected group of galleries. All works are vetted for authenticity by authorities in the fields represented at the show. Vetting is made possible by sponsorship from FADA.

The Los Angeles Art Show caters to the novice and advanced collector alike, offering a unique chance to view and purchase works of the highest quality, spanning many styles and a broad price range. Actress Diane Keaton, a longtime Los Angeles Art Show patron, comments on the event, “I look forward to the Los Angeles Art Show every year.”

Once again, the Los Angeles Art Show will be a city-wide event, with several local museum exhibitions included in its calendar. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Museum of Latin American Art, the San Diego Museum of Art, The Autry National Center, and others, have confirmed their on-site participation. Approximately 20,000 visitors and dozens of media representatives are expected to attend the 2007 show.

“The Fine Art Dealers Association is proud to celebrate the 12th anniversary of The Los Angeles Art Show. The exhibition has gained tremendous momentum with record-setting attendance and sales,” says Howard Rehs, President of the Fine Arts Dealers Association (FADA). “The public is really responding to the expanded focus of the show and the variety and quality of the art. The show and the arts and culture scene in Southern California are really coming into their own.”

The 2007 Los Angeles Art Show lecture series will feature distinctive voices from the art world, speaking on a variety of relevant topics. Last year’s dynamic lecture series and symposia topics included: collecting modern and contemporary art, showcasing works of art within interior settings, a debate on photographic naturalism, as well as a demonstration on the art of framing by master artisans. Panelists and lecturers included notable art collectors Leonard and Susan Nimoy, distinguished art writer Jori Finkel, Director of the Museum of Latin American Art, Gregorio Luke and art historian Gabriel Weisberg, a professor at the University of Minnesota.

Sponsors include: General Motors, Architectural Digest, Venice Magazine, LACMA, the Pacific Design Center, and Le Merigot hotel. The art fair will also have media support from the Los Angeles Times, Art + Auction, Art & Antiques, Fine Art Connoisseur, Art Now Gallery Guide, Los Angeles Magazine, Art Forum, Art in America, The Art Newspaper, Art Net, Southwest Art Magazine, KCRW and more.

Show admission, including catalog, is $18. Tickets for members of participating museums are available at half price. Tickets for the Gala, benefiting the Art Museum Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, are available through the Art Museum Council, 323-857-6149. The gala takes place from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 with a preview at 6:00 p.m. Tickets begin at $200.

The general show hours are noon to 7:00 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, and noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28th. The Los Angeles Art Show takes place at the Barker Hangar, Santa Monica Airport, 3021 Airport Avenue (off Bundy), Santa Monica, California, January 24-28, 2007.
