THE NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL (NYMF), REX KNOWLES and WILL STURTEVANT are pleased to announce the New York premiere production of THAT OTHER WOMAN’S CHILD, directed by Sherry Landrum. THAT OTHER WOMAN’S CHILD, will play a limited engagement at Off-Broadway’s 37 Arts Theatre C (450 West 37th Street, NYC). Performances begin Monday, September 29 and continue through to Sunday, October 5.
Dawn Hanover, a professional woman from Los Angeles, returns home to her Kentucky roots to claim her birthright. When the folks on the Hanover farm hear their long-lost big-city half-sister – “that other woman’s child” – is coming to Kentucky to claim her share of the farm, all hell breaks loose. They have dreaded this moment for years, and they “ain’t gonna” let no city woman take what is rightfully theirs. Little do they know, that Dawn is actually coming to connect with her unknown family. THAT OTHER WOMAN’S CHILD is a joyful, bluegrass-laced look at the trials and tribulations of the ties that bind.
THAT OTHER WOMAN’S CHILD was written by Sherry Landrum and George S. Clinton. Sherry is the recipient of two Los Angeles Drama Critic’s awards for her directing and has been awarded a Gold Record. She is Artistic Director of the Chattanooga State Repertory Theatre and of the Professional Actor Training Program at Chattanooga State Technical Community College. George has composed numerous Hollywood film scores including the Austin Powers movies and the EMMY award winning Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. George serves as an advisor at the Sundance Composers Lab. Awards include a Grammy nomination, an EMMY nomination, and 8 BMI Film Music Awards, including their highest honor, the Richard Kirk Career Achievement Award.
The production stars Andrea A. McCullough (National Tours: Grease, Nunsense!, Urintown) as Granny Loomis Hanover, Mary Mossberg (Mamma Mia! National Tour) as Dawn Hanover, Tina Marie Casamento (Kiss Me Kate National Tour) as Aurora, Allan Ledford as Matthew Mark, Don Noble (Off Broadway’s Perfect Crime) as Luke John, Canedy Knowles as Corinthianne, Quinn VanAntwerp as Jimmy John, Dave Schoonover (Cats National Tour) as Leviticus Numbers, Erin Parker (Ring of Fire National Tour) as Song of Solomon, Whit Baldwin as Peter Hale and Christian Mansfield as Deuteronomy.
