Twyla and Sampson are kindred spirits which have loved and searched for one another for over a century. It started in 1855 on a plantation in Virginia. Twyla, a beautiful fifteen-year-old, was a slave owned by nineteen-year-old Sampson's family. Sampson's mother learns of their illicit affair and Twyla's pregnancy, and sells her to the highest bidder. Over ninety years later they are reborn and find each other again in 1935 . . . and then again in the present. Have things changed now? Will society and their loved ones allow them to love one another freely?
