Over this three day course, Priscilla Jones will explore the possibilities of creating a textile piece that is reflective and personal using processes and techniques that she has developed through her own experimentation with hand and machine stitch on painted fabrics as well as incorporating found materials and haberdashery. The work explores the ideas of memory and nostalgia and how one can recapture intimate moments and reclaim them through the process of making.
Priscilla has been producing contemporary, stitched, mixed media pieces in 2D and 3D since completing her degree in Embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University in 1997. She draws her inspiration from a variety of sources exploring the concept of identity, memory and nostalgia. These themes underpin a range of areas within her work including freelance designs for greeting cards wallpaper, fashion and interior fabrics exporting to Japan, Europe and the U.S.A. Priscilla also lectures part-time in embroidery and drawing
on the BA (Hons)Contemporary Textiles degree at ELIHE.
In 2003 Priscilla and her husband opened the Edge Gallery specializing in contemporary fine and applied art.
