Texas STAR BQ – Kerrville. June 12, 2009. The Texas chapters and Southwest region chapters (Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi) of STAR Touring and Riding Association are pleased to announce the annual Texas STAR BQ benefit will be held in Kerrville June 11-13. The Texas Chapters have met in Kerrville for their annual rally every other year; this year will be joint effort between the two chapters. One endeavor of the group is to have various fundraisers to support Feed The Children (FTC). Proceeds from these fundraisers purchase truck loads of food and personal hygiene items for needy families in designated communities. This year, Kerrville and surrounding area folks will receive the benefit of the truck load deliveries. 2009 will be the third time STAR has delivered food to the needy in the Kerrville area. Due to a generous donation from a local foundation this year, they will deliver two TRUCK LOADS – enough to help 800 families.
Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM) is their primary distributor of the items; cooperative help comes from the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. These organizations will be handling a sign-up of families 2 to 3 weeks prior to the event. The eligible families will be given vouchers to be presented at the event to receive their goods.
The food delivery will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 12th. A Feed The Children truck will leave the Y.O. Ranch Resort, 2033 Sidney Baker St., Kerrville, at 1:15 followed by over 100 motorcycle riding members of Texas Star chapters. The truck and procession will go to Tivy High School for the distribution of the goods to the registered families. The public is invited to watch the parade. Suggested viewing site would be Tivy High School, 3250 Loop 534 in Kerrville; arrive before 1:30.
