Ben Stevenson's choreography breathes new life into the sweeping epic of Cleopatra, the most powerful woman in the world and the lover of both Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony.
Ben Stevenson's choreography took my breath away alright, gag.I found the perforamce to be below par not only the performance of the dancers, but the scenario of D.L. Grover was appalling,WARNING TO ALL, DO NOT TAKE ANY YOUNG CHILDREN,ADULTS OR THOSE THAT HAVE MORAL CHARACTER to this preforamce. I,As a season ticket holder could only endure, the first 3 acts.Carl Cooner who played Pothinus and Thomas Kilps who protrayed Ptolemy, roles and preforamce was riddled with homosexual connotations. While in 2 acts the supporting dancers rolled around on top of each other also reacting a orgy.I was shocked!!.the custome design supported an asexual presentation. If this was not enough, the technical aspects of changing the set design was done at full view of the audience. Not to mention the poor if you can call it music score, note a CD.
I will think twice before ever spending my hard earned money at Bass Hall again.Thank goodness I was in the company of another adult, not my adult children or my parents. I shudder to think anyone saw that I attended even for a monent, this valgarity.
I buy tickets to the bass hall, as I have in the past found the preformances to be of professional quality and family friendly but I will think twice now.
Shame to all who allowed this to come to this venue.
