On Tuesday, March 17 the Museums of Las Cruces will host attendees of the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Texas Association of Museums, El Paso, TX. Attendees can tour Las Cruces area museums beginning with the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum and continuing with City of Las Cruces Museums - the Las Cruces Museum of Art, the Branigan Cultural Center, and the Las Cruces Railroad Museum. This tour is only available to conference participants. The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum is part of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and brings to life the 3,000-year history of agriculture in the state. During this event, the Las Cruces Museum of Art will have three contemporary art exhibits on display. Tour participants can discover the history of Las Cruces at the Branigan Cultural Center and railroading history at the Las Cruces Railroad Museum.
The 2009 Annual Meeting of the Texas Association of Museums is a four-day conference, March 17-20, drawing museum professionals, trustees, and volunteers from throughout Texas and the Southwest for sessions, workshops, and group sessions. This year's conference addresses the theme "Breaking Down Barriers - Building Bridges." The City of El Paso's Museums and Cultural Affairs Department is the primary sponsor of the TAM Annual Meeting.
