Since forming in 1988, Tempest has delivered a globally-renowned hybrid of high-energy folk rock fusing Irish reels, Scottish ballads, Norwegian influences and other world music elements. Guy Mendilow's music offers a taste of the beauty of the different cultures he has called home; from Israel and South Africa to Brazil, Mexico and the US and of the common human ground between them. In 'Mendilusia,' ancient Judeo-Spanish melodies meld with Brazilian bossa, South African harmonies and Mendilow's award-winning overtone singing. Mendilow's quartet performs on some sixteen instruments including berimbau, electric mbira, alongside violin, lush vocal harmonies and jaw harps.
