Tech Atlas SF TV SHOW: Which way for Urban WiFi?
As WiFi moves from our homes, offices and cafés to city-wide networks, how can municipalities and regions best harness this new networking capability? WiFi is now also moving into places where it didn't exist before, like trains, buses, subways and other non-traditional locations too. Here in the Bay Area, we've seen the evolution of WiFi onto BART, onto Transbay buses, and even into citywide networks, such as the Google network in Mountain View. However, there have also been some frustrated efforts, as some municipal networks have failed entirely. Come hear Michael McCarthy from the City of San Francisco and Karl Garcia from Google share their expertise and explore their visions for the future of urban WiFi.
Tech Atlas SF is a monthly live, half an hour online TV show. Passionate people discuss how globally relevant issues on the Internet are changing our lives.
