2 day workshop--September 24 and 25. TAXONOMY WORKSHOP: THE MULTITUDINOUS COMPOSITES. Perhaps no other group is so important or so difficult for beginners than the vast Asteraceae, and fall brings many species into flower and fruit. In addition to learning tribes, we'll use microscopes to sort out the flower parts and elucidate terminology. Many apparent mysteries will be solved when we practice keying and learn about important details. We'll look at composites from a variety of viewpoints-gestalt, easy-to-see morphological features, fascinating microscopic views, and habitats in the field. You can expect to have a working understanding of the group by the end of the course. To enroll, print out the Class Registration Form from the website and send it with your check to: John Rusk, 1354-B Lincoln St., Berkeley, CA 94702. For additional information call John Rusk at 510-528-0526 or email at john@rusk.com. (Advance registration is required for all classes. Drops in are not permitted.)
