Tasting Wines from Austria, like Gruner Veltliner, Zweigelt & More! January 26, 2011

At Dudley’s Wine & Gifts, Eric Dudley takes great pride at introducing wine lovers to the entire, broader world of wine. Tastings like we’ll have this Wednesday and Thursday reminds him why. Many people may not have had an Austrian wine. Perhaps you’ve never even have heard of a Gruner Veltliner. Yet it is Austria’s most popular and widely exported wine. We’ll taste this delicious white wine and find out for ourselves why. We’ll also taste a Zweigelt from Austria. This is a lighter bodied red with tasty flavors of tart cherries and cranberries. After Austria we’ll head to France, to try a new, lush Bordeaux, then, a Pinot Noir from California followed by a new Merlot from Paso Robles. To top it all off, we’ll finish up with a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley. Zweigelt, Bordeaux, Gruner Veltliner…This is why exploring the world of wine is so endlessly fascinating.
