About Courtesan
A Courtesan was a woman in the 15th – 20th century who at the very least came from an upper-middle class family; most came from wealthy or noble families, but weren’t royalty. These women were allowed to be educated and learned about the finer things in life: art, poetry, opera, and wine. Courtesans were well – educated and worldly – aside from their physical attributes, it was their wit and personality that set them apart from regular women. They became the companions at social events to men of wealth, power, and royalty. Some of the most famous women in royal circles, such as Madame De Pompadour, were courtesans and played a vital role in shaping social trends. Courtesan Wines embraces this philosophy.
About Bridget Raymond
Bridget was raised in Rutherford, CA (in the heart of the Napa Valley) and spent much of her time as a child playing among the vines of her family’s vineyard. Bridget's uncles own vineyards in the Napa Valley and making wine is a family tradition. They were her first teachers and she is grateful for it. During college, she drove up to Napa many weekends to help her uncles make wine and worked in tasting rooms to gain in-depth knowledge about various varietals and different winemaking processes used throughout the valley. She still continued with this tradition and works in Napa every harvest to help the family. From winemaking to sales and marketing, Bridget was exposed to many facets of the business. She now felt ready to pursue her life-long dream of producing her own wine, independent of the family. Hence, Courtesan was born.
