College Street, from Bathurst to Shaw, becomes a pedestrian square for the weekend, lined by local restaurants sampling their very best fare, music on every corner, shopping and exploring, and some of the best people watching in the city. And in a typical Toronto twist, nestled among the great Italian cafes, patios and street performers are other gems from around the world.
The Taste of Little Italy is a salute to everything that makes this neighbourhood, and really the whole City of Toronto, such a great place to live,” said Lenny Lombardi, President of CHIN Radio and Chair of Little Italy’s business improvement association. “I’ve watched this area grow since the 60’s to become one of the city’s most exciting and vibrant destinations. Drop in this weekend, and you’ll see why. And then you’ll come back, again and again.”
During the Taste of Little Italy, 21 bands, choirs and other acts will perform from street corners and stages stretching the length of College in the neighbourhood. Highlights include local Italian performers Euro Blue and the Pino Cea Band, as well as jazz acts like Jeanine Mackie, Ruben Vasquez and the Martin Alex Aucoin quartet. Rounding out the weekend are great world music acts like Doctor Draw, The Imbayakunas and Santerias.
