The 10th annual “Taste of Coastal Delaware” is southern Delaware’s biggest and best tasting event, where guests can sample delicacies from the best restaurants at the beach. This year’s event adds a celebrity chef, and a competition among the restaurants to make mouths water for this year’s culinary showcase.
Special Guest Chef John Shields is a nationally acclaimed expert in regional American coastal cuisine. John has written three award-winning cookbooks and the star of two cooking series on public television: “Coastal Cuisine” and “Chesapeake Bay Cooking.” He is also chef/owner of Gertrude’s restaurant at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Chef Shields has agreed to make a presentation and, conditions permitting, a cooking demonstration at A Taste of Coastal Delaware.
A little healthy competition is a good thing, so guests at “Taste of Coastal Delaware” can vote for People’s Choice awards for the best dish, and the most attractive table display. The ‘bragging rights” that come with these awards will inspire our restaurants to bring out their best.
New restaurants have already agreed to participate, and long-time favorites are expected to return to the event this year. One thing that hasn’t changed is the ticket price for “A Taste of Coastal Delaware.” Tickets are still just $35 per person, and are available for purchase online or at the Chamber of Commerce offices, 36913 Coastal Highway in Fenwick Island in May. They can also be purchased at the door.
