Children of all ages and their families are invited to attend the Target Children’s Book Festival – featuring a full day of author, illustrator and celebrity book readings and signings, live entertainment and musical performances. The event is free to the public. Attendees of the Target Children’s Book Festival are welcome to bring new and gently used books to the Target Donation Station. Volunteers will collect the books and donate them to metro area K-6 schools.
Authors, illustrators and celebrities including Mallory and Lamb Chop; American Girl series author Erin Falligant; illustrator Tom Lichtenheld; and the voice of Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer, Caitlin Sanchez, will appear on the Target Children’s Stage to bring books to life for children of all ages. Authors will be seated on the larger-than-life Target “Big Red Chair” – a symbol of the company's commitment to supporting education.
Additionally, there will be a variety of fun activities for families including a scavenger hunt, bounce houses, face painting, a climbing wall and free boat rentals. If parents need a place to read with their kids, there will be a tent with books galore and comfy, cozy places to sit, appropriately titled, “The Book Nook.” Families also are invited to enjoy live musical performances by some of today’s most popular children's groups including Playhouse Disney’s “Choo-Choo Soul;” Justin Roberts & the Not Ready for Naptime Players and The Okee Dokee Brothers.
