Tapping Into Jewish Mystical Thought
An Evening With Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz

Rabbi Steinsaltz, a world-renowned philosopher and author of 60 books, is a gifted teacher and speaker.

According to Rabbi Steinsaltz, Jewish mysticism - or Kabbalah - is the official theology of the Jewish people. He believes Kabbalah expresses the hidden, spiritual dimension of the revealed aspects of the Torah. These revealed facets of Torah - such as halakha (Jewish law) - speak primarily about visible, physical things. Kabbalah, on the other hand, speaks directly about spiritual entities or graduated levels of reality and sefirot (channels of divine energy) through which God creates, sustains and directs the universe.

One of Rabbi Steinsaltz' most famous books is The Thirteen Petalled Rose. Based on the opening lines of the Zohar, which employs the image of a thirteen petalled rose as an allegory for the community of Israel, Steinsaltz uses the metaphor of the blossoming rose to help bring readers closer to the true meaning of Kabbalah.

In his talk at Stanford, Rabbi Steinsaltz will share his thoughts on Jewish Mysticism and help the audience tap into its mysteries and splendor. Following his talk, there will be a book signing for those who would like to buy autographed copies.
