Toronto’s premier tap dance company ‘What’s On? TAP!’ and group founder/director Kim Chalovich present a new live show titled “TAP!”; as a gala opening to the eighth annual Eastern Canadian Tap Conference (ECTC). The new production will feature some of the top tap performers in their field, and is held to showcase, demonstrate and re-energize the art and excitement of tap dancing in Canada.
WHO: The cast of performers in the 2012 production are professionals What’s On? TAP! dance company (featuring founding director Kim Chalovich), CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance Canada top-finalist and co-founder of TapDance Centre Everett Smith, highly accomplished dancer-choreographer David Cox, Ryan Foley, Allison Toffin, group ‘Bring Tap Back’, and pre-professional senior and youth companies from the TapDance Centre in Mississauga.

In addition to being a top-finalist on season two of So You Think You Can Dance Canada and the co-founder of Mississauga’s TapDance Centre, Toronto’s Everett Smith also played “Paulie” in 2007 in Hairspray: The Movie, danced in stage performances of Grease and Footloose, danced for Katy Perry and performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
David Cox is a respected and accomplished tap teacher, choreographer and adjudicator, who is in demand across North America and Europe. The St. Catharines, Ontario resident has showbiz is in his blood; his mother was a dance teacher and his father was a Motown tenor and member of The Avalons and The New Century Platters. Cox danced with Gregory Hines and Savion Glover in the 2001 movie Bojangles, he was a member of the 2002/2003 STOMP touring show, he won MTV Live's Dancing With the Hosts in 2008 and performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Mississauga resident Kim Chalovich has produced, directed and performed dance in Canada for over 30 years. She is a full member of Performing Arts Educators of Canada (PAEC) and the founding director of the Eastern Canadian Tap Conference. Chalovich is also co-founder of TapDance Centre in Mississauga, Ontario (the only of its kind in Canada) and founder of the all-female, critically acclaimed professional dance company ‘What’s On? TAP!’.
